Sheet masks

A sheet mask is a delivery format rather than a category of active. The sheet holds an essence against the skin and slows evaporation, so the honest description of the benefit is short-term surface hydration and a temporarily plumper appearance. That is genuinely useful before an event or after a flight, but it is an addition to a routine rather than a replacement for the daily steps that produce cumulative change.

We currently track 1 published product here. Every entry is compiled from manufacturer ingredient disclosures, published cosmetic science literature and UK retailer listings. We do not run clinical trials, and we do not publish a product until its formulation details have been checked against a source we can cite.

  • Formulation: INCI lists, key actives, fragrance and alcohol status where the brand discloses them.
  • Evidence: what the published research suggests for the key ingredients, and what it does not establish.
  • UK availability: retailer listings and prices, with the date each was last checked. Where a price is not recent enough to quote, we say “check latest price” instead of guessing.

Choosing sheet masks

  • Fifteen to twenty minutes is enough; leaving it until dry pulls moisture back out.
  • Pat in the remaining essence and follow with moisturiser to hold it in.
  • Avoid strongly fragranced or highly active masks if your skin is currently reactive.
