Editorial policy
Everything published here must be traceable to a source we can name, or clearly labelled as unknown.
Source tiers
- Tier 1 — peer-reviewed research, systematic reviews, and official regulatory or standards bodies.
- Tier 2 — manufacturer technical documentation, official brand specifications, and authorised retailer listings.
- Tier 3 — reputable secondary reporting and aggregated user feedback, used only as context and always labelled as such.
Evidence language
Ingredient pages state an evidence confidence level: strong, moderate, limited or unclear. Where evidence is limited, we say so rather than filling the gap with confident wording. Cosmetic products are described in cosmetic terms; we do not describe them as treating, curing or preventing conditions.
Things we will not publish
- Invented review counts, ratings, awards, testimonials or expert quotes.
- Prices we have not verified against a named retailer with a recorded check time.
- Before-and-after imagery implying guaranteed results.
- Trend claims based on a single post or an unnamed source.
Independence
Commercial relationships never influence editorial scores or rankings. Sponsored content, if it ever appears, is labelled “Advert — sponsored content” at the top of the page and is excluded from rankings.
Updates
Product and ingredient pages record when they were last researched. Where research is stale, we show the date rather than implying the information is current.
